Founded in Germany by Ferdinand Porsche in 1931, Porsche vehicles are considered some of the most powerful in the world. Combining extravagance, performance and luxury, a Porsche car rental offers a one-of-a-kind driving experience for those who can handle the raw power.Surprisingly, the very first Porsche vehicles were actually based on the Volkswagen chassis. As time went on, however, the manufacturer began introducing new technology to the market and became known for being one of the greatest innovators in the automobile world. Spearheading the now popular two-seat sports car design, Porsche was one of the first company’s to put a powerful engine in such a small car.

Before they were seen weaving through city streets at the hands of the wealthy, Porsche’s were actually used on the racetrack. Built in the 1950’s, the 356 Speedster and 550 Spyder were made from very light materials and built low to the ground so they were able to pick up more speed and win races. All the attention on the racetrack made the company realize they had a great market amongst typical consumers.

To cater to that market, the company released the Porsche 911 in the 1960’s. Built around a six-cylinder engine placed in the rear of the car, the 911 became the base for many Porsche cars in the future. As the company evolved, they realized they needed an exotic car rental that offered the same kind of powerful engine but more space and capability, so they released the Cayenne, their first and only sport utility vehicle. Built around a turbo engine, the Cayenne released 450 horsepower but was able to carry more passengers and perform well as a vehicle more suited for daily life.
