Ideal for families or travelers with a lot of luggage, the 2008 Range Rover Sport is roomier than most sport utility vehicles but not as bulky. Named after Land Rover’s most popular luxury car rental, the standard Range Rover, the Sport is actually modeled after the LR3 and was made for those who crave stronger performance from an SUV on the pavements rather than off the main road.

Available in two premium trim levels, the HSE and the Supercharged, the Range Rover Sport features refined steering and suspension components that enable drivers to handle the SUV incredibly well. Powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine, the HSE generates 300 horsepower and 315 pound-feet of torque. The Supercharged produces 90 more horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque through a blown 4.2-liter V8 engine.

Each trim level comes standard with a permanent four-wheel drive system with a two-speed transfer case and a Terrain Response System that automatically sets the suspension, electronic and powertrain systems in order to optimize traction based on five different settings: general, grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts, sand and rock crawl. Each engines use a six-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift logic that adjusts to both the road conditions and the driver’s personal driving style.
